Biographie Daniela Friebe alias Dj Kara Sun
Born on a little farm outside a small village, Daniela Friebe developed a love for nature at an early age when she got a bantam chicken, which was soon followed by several other chickens. On a regular basis she would ride her bike to a local river to collect snails and insects for her chickens, which gave her the opportunity to enjoy the outdoors. Later she expanded, keeping Japanese geese. She also developed an interest in music, which has become her profession as a acclaimed DJ. Today she travels the world doing shows, an experience that has fed her passion for birds by introducing her to a multitude of species found in zoos, parks, and tropical rainforests. She also still keeps birds, breeding the "quetro" breed of araucana chicken. When she travels, she also visits breeders to help them with tips and medicines for their birds.
Dany's dream is to someday visit New Zealand to join the rescue program for the Kakapo, one of the world's rarest and strangest parrot species. Only 91 kakapos exist today but scientists are working diligently to prevent their extinction: www.kakaporecovery.org. Dany also hopes to travel to Madagascar and Papua New Guinea, places known for their spectacular and unqiue birds.
Dany hopes that her translation of the mongabay kids site into Dutch will help children learn about rainforests and make them more aware of the world around them.
Dany has a web site about the chicken she breeds: www.araucana-silkies.de. She also has photos from her travels at https://community.webshots.com/user/djkarasun
